Important notes on installation

Switch the entire machine/system off line!
The machine/system could inadvertently start up while you are con-
necting the device.
Ensure that the entire machine/system is powered down during the
electrical installation.
The external voltage supply of the device must be capable of
buffering brief mains voltage failures of 20 ms as specified in
EN 60 204. Suitable power supplies are available as accessories
from SICK (Siemens type series 6 EP 1).
Only copper with a temperature resistance of ≥75 C is allowed to
be used for wiring.
The screws for the connection terminals must be tightened with a
tightening torque of 0.6–0.8 Nm.
For use in accordance with cULus -requirements, a power supply
rated as suitable "for use in class 2 circuits" must be used. Current
flow must be limited to ≥8 A!
Separate plastic-sheathed cables outside the control cabinet!
Outside the control cabinet, sender and receiver cables are to be run
in separate plastic-sheathed cables.
Connect OSSD 1 and OSSD 2 separately!
To ensure safety signal integrity, OSSD 1 and OSSD 2 are to be con-
nected separately to the machine controller and the controller must
process both signals separately. OSSD 1 and OSSD 2 must not be
connected together.
