3.5.3 Starting in an emergency
The reversing starter is an emergency starting fa-
cility. The automatic decompression system swit-
ches to a compressed state already at very low

speed. For this reason, the starting procedure
described below must be exactly followed.
Only carry out an emergency start with the battery
connected to avoid a risk of engine damage!

• Remove the seal at the lever of the cut-off valve (7).
• Set the throttle lever (1) to full throttle.
• Place the lever (7) horizontal.
• Insert the starter key (2) and turn it to «I»; the battery charge
indicator (4) and oil pressure indicator (3) light up, the signal-
ling device (5) sounds.
• Slowly pull out the handle (6) on the cable until resistance is
noticeable.
• Allow the cable to move back in order to use the whole length
of the cable for starting.
• Grip the handle (6) with both hands.
• Firmly pull the starter cable with increasing speed (do not
jerk), until the engine starts.

• Allow the engine to idle «I» for 2-3 minutes to warm up.

• Remove the starter key.

The oil deficiency cut-out device is not active in a
horizontal position.
If white smoke should discharge from the exhaust af-
ter several start attempts, set the throttle lever to «I»
and slowly pull out the starter cable five times. Subse-
quently repeat the starting procedure.

At the end of work or interruptions, the starter key
must be stored in safe place to prevent unauthori-
sed use.
