Danger of electrocution!
Ensure that the safety evaluation unit is installed and put into
operation only by specially trained, authorized personnel.
Danger
After correct installation and electrical connection, the device is put into
operation as follows.
Assumptions: Safety inputs are not enabled, EDM inputs are not connected,
or LOW signal (0 V) is present.
- Apply the operating voltage.
The device starts up and performs a self-test.
- After about 3 s, the device is ready for operation, which is indicated by the
corresponding LED (Ready).
NOTE
Depending on the configuration (see data sheet), various con-
ditions must be met in order to connect the safety output(s).
Correct wiring of the EDM input
Correct operation of the safety inputs
Correct logical wiring
- Actuate the safety input(s).
The corresponding LED (I 1 ... I 4) indicates the status of the safety input.
If the corresponding safety input is correctly actuated, the LED lights up
continuously.
If the LED flashes, only one contact of the safety input is correctly actuated.
This leads to an error after a predefined time (see data sheet). For more
information,
see also item 13 "Troubleshooting" on page
If the EDM input is assigned to a safety output, the LED of the corresponding
output flashes after correct actuation of the assigned safety input(s).
If no EDM input is assigned to a safety output, the output switches through af-
ter the assigned safety input(s) has/have been correctly actuated.
- Apply the correct signal to the EDM input.
Depending on the configuration, the EDM input expects a HIGH signal, a rising
edge, or a falling edge.
After applying the correct signal, the safety output(s) switches on. The
corresponding LED (O 1 ... O 4) indicates the status of the safety input.
NOTE
During a voltage reset, no external voltages may be applied
to the safety inputs and EDM inputs (e.g., from devices with
OSSD outputs or other voltage sources)!
NOTE
Upon initial commissioning of a safety control unit with a
new configuration, complete validation in accordance with
the relevant standards must be performed.

12 Maintenance
Each safety circuit must be checked by specially trained, authorized personnel
in accordance with national regulations within the time-limits specified therein.
(Recommendation: If there is no nationally valid regulation, carry out the func-
tion test in accordance with the applications in EN ISO 14119.)

Ensure that no external voltages are in contact with the inputs during
a voltage reset (e.g., from devices with OSSD outputs)
14 Dismantling
Only dismantle the safety evaluation unit when it is de-energized.
15 Disposal
Dispose of packaging and used parts according to the regulations of the
country in which the device is installed.
