− Excessive measurements may result in
injuries to the patient due to blood flow
disruptions.
− The cuff should not be placed on a
wound as this may cause other injuries.
− Do not attach the cuff to a limb that is
used for IV infusions or other intravas-
cular accesses, therapies or arteriove-
nous (A-V) shunts. Inflating the cuff may
temporarily block the blood flow and
potentially injure the patient.
− The cuff should not be placed on the
arm on the side of a mastectomy (re-
moval of the mammary gland). In case
of double mastectomy, use the side of
the less dominate arm.
− The pressure load of the cuff may tem-
porarily cause loss of function for moni-
toring instruments which are simultane-
ously used on the same arm.
− A compressed or kinked connecting
hose may cause a continual cuff pres-
sure leading to circulation problems and
possibly harmful injuries.
