Notes on the battery
ATTENTION
The use of non-rechargeable batteries is prohibited.
Only use batteries and chargers approved by the manufacturer.
When replacing the batteries, they must always be completely re-
placed. The simultaneous use of new and used batteries can
damage the vehicle.
The vehicle may only be stored and loaded in frost-free rooms.
If the vehicle is stored for a longer period of time or taken out of
service, the batteries must be removed from the vehicle.
Only replace batteries with batteries of the same type. Prior to the
disposal of the vehicle, the batteries must be removed and dis-
posed of in accordance with local regulations.
Safety instructions for the batteries
Observe accident prevention guidelines and DIN VDE 0510, VDE
0105 T.1.
Be sure to observe the following warnings when handling the bat-
teries:
Observe the notes on the battery, in the instructions
and in the vehicle operating instructions!
Wear eye protection!
Keep acids and batteries away from children.
Risk of explosion!
Fire, sparks, open flames and smoking are prohibited!
Risk of acid burns!
First aid!
Warning note!
Disposal!
Do not throw batteries in the bin!
DANGER
Risk of fire and explosion!
Do not place tools or similar items on the battery. Short-circuit
and risk of explosion.
Open flames and smoking must be strictly avoided.
Rooms in which batteries are charged must be well ventilated, as
highly explosive gas is produced during charging.
WARNING
Risk of acid burns!
Use caution with leaking batteries (sulphuric acid may leak).

WARNING
Risk of poisoning!
Never bring wounds into contact with lead. Always clean your
hands after working on batteries.
Procedures in the event of unintentional release of battery
acid
When used normally, and when observing the instructions, lead-
acid batteries do not pose any risk.
However, keep in mind that lead-acid batteries contain sulphuric
acid which can cause chemical burns and corrosion.
● If there is spillage or, if the battery is leaking, acid is escaping,
lay down a binding agent such as sand. Do not let it reach the
sewer system, soil or a body of water.
● Neutralise the acid with lime/baking soda and dispose of it ac-
cording to local regulations.
● Contact a waste management company to dispose of faulty
batteries.
● Rinse out your eyes or rinse off your skin with copious
amounts of fresh water if acid splashes into your eyes or onto
your skin.
● Then consult a doctor immediately.
● Wash any contaminated clothing with water.
● Change clothes
Check and correct the battery fluid level (only on low
WARNING
Regularly check the fluid level on acid-filled batteries.
The acid in a fully charged battery has a specific weight of 1.28
kg/litre at 20 °C.
The acid in a partially discharged battery has a specific weight
between 1.00 and 1.28 kg/litre.
The specific weight of the acid must be the same in all cells.
Unscrew all cell caps.
Take a sample from each cell with the acid tester.
Return the acid sample to the same cell.
If the fluid level is too low, fill the cells up to the mark with distilled
water.
Charge the battery.
Screw in the cell caps.
