Locking Pins 3788-9, 3788-25, 3788-26 (x2),
3788-27 and 3788-28 (x2)
• CITROËN/PEUGEOT single cam and 16v
twin cam engines (TU & XU) use locking
pins, in combination, to retain the engine
timing position during belt renewal. These
pins enter through access holes in each of
the camshaft sprockets into fixed datum
holes behind.

Holding Tools for Crank Pulley Removal
3788-12, 3788-13
NOTE:
On many applications to remove the
timing belt you must remove the
crankshaft pulley. Engine Locking
Pins must not be used to hold the crankshaft
whilst releasing or tightening the pulley bolts as
engine damage will result. Locking Pins are for
retention of timing position only - Use Flywheel
Holding Tools 3788-12 and 3788-13 on
engines detailed in Application Chart.

Crankshaft Locking Pin 3788-31
• Remove the crankshaft pulley and lock the
crankshaft in its timed position at the
flywheel or through the crankshaft pulley
flange.
Maintenance work on engines must be carried out only by
experienced mechanics. Always wear personal protective equipment.

Pin 3788-31.

3788-30 are used in combination, for 1.8
and 2.0 'EW' engines without variable valve
timing.
3788-29 is used to lock the exhaust
camshaft but Special Pin 3788-33 is
required to lock for the VVT Inlet camshaft.

tensioner roller clockwise until the pointer
touches the Setting Pin, re-tighten nut and
remove the Pin.

crankshaft gear and secure in place with
Retaining Clip 3788-20.
