2 Product Description

2.1 Function
The AxonRotation Adapter 9S501 in combination with an Axon-Bus gripping component, e.g. the
Michelangelo Hand 8E500, facilitates fitting with components in the modular Ottobock Axon-Bus
prosthetic system.
The AxonRotation Adapter 9S501 allows passive pronation/supination. These functions support
the patient during his or her daily activities and provide the highest rehabilitation value. The Axon
Rotation Adapter 9S501 promotes a physiologically correct body posture and reduces the need
for unnatural, compensating body movements.
Passive, unlimited 360° pronation/supination of the Axon-Bus gripping component is possible
from an activation moment > 2.0 Nm via the integrated ratchet system. There are 24 ratchet posi
tions, one at every 15°, for this purpose.
3 Application
3.1 Intended Use
The AxonRotation Adapter 9S501 is to be used exclusively for upper limb exoprosthetic fitting and
enables passive rotation of the Axon-Bus gripping component.
3.2 Use / Field of Application
In combination with myoelectrically controlled Axon-Bus gripping components in the modular
Ottobock Axon-Bus prosthetic system, the AxonRotation Adapter 9S501 can be used from the
transradial or transhumeral amputation level or, in case of dysmelia, for forearm or upper arm fit
tings.

3.3 Conditions of Use

The AxonRotation Adapter 9S501 was developed for everyday use and may not be used for
unusual activities such as extreme sports (free climbing, paragliding etc.). The AxonRotation
Adapter 9S501 is intended for use by one person only. Use of the product by another person is
not approved by the manufacturer.
3.4 Qualification
Fitting a patient with the AxonRotation Adapter 9S501 may only be carried out by a prosthetist
who has been authorised by Ottobock after completion of a corresponding training course.
