Water Installation
3.1 Water Inlet (A, A')
n Unit should be connected to a cold water supply of
drinking water quality (note sticker on water inlet) (Water
connection refer to Pos. "A, A'" in the dimensional
drawings at the end of the handbook).
n Before carrying out the water connection, rinse the
customer's water line.
n Install a backflow preventer (Z) into the customer's

water line and a separate stop valve (Y) with drain sieve
for each unit (according to the local standards and
requirements). Stop valve should be opened only when
the unit is in operation.
n Water pressure (flow pressure) min. 2 bar and max. 6
bar.
n Water connection using ½" flexible pressure tubing with
¾" threaded joint.
n Water's conducting capacity 10-200µS/cm.
n Water quality: pH: 7-7.5; Cl
SO
< 400 mg/l, Fe < 0.1 mg/l,
4
Mn < 0.05 mg/l, Cu < 0.05 mg/l.
n If there are high levels of impurities in the water, add a

0.08mm sediment filter (X).
n If the redox potential of the water exceeds 300mV at a

chlorine concentration (Cl
activated carbon filter (W) (Adhere to the filter's
maintenance schedule).
n If the Cl value is exceeded or if the water hardness is >

18° dH (33° fH; 23° eH; 320 ppm (USA)), it is
recommended that a hydrogen ionic exchanger (V)
(partial decalization system) be added.
Attention: note the residual hardness of the
demineralized water after the softening :
min. 5°... max. 7° dH (9° ... 13° fH;
6.3° ... 8.8° eH; 90 ... 125 ppm (USA)).

n Dimensioning of the decalization system is necessary
only for the water consumption of the steam generator :

CONVOTHERM OSC/OSP 10.10 à 0,4 l/min
CONVOTHERM OSC/OSP 10.20 à 0,5 l/min

CONVOTHERM OSC/OSP 20.10 à 0,6 l/min
CONVOTHERM OSC/OSP 20.20 à 0,8 l/min
n Option soft water connection:
The soft water connection A' is on the bottom of the
unit on table units; the non-demineralized untreated
water is connected to A on the back side of the unit.
On stand units, connect the soft water to the extra
water connection A' and connect the non-
demineralized untreated water to the L-shaped
connection piece A on which the hand spray is also
connected.
In the same way, warm water at temperatures up to
60°C can be connected to A'.
n Local water standards and regulations should be
adhered to (Valid norm in Germany:
DIN 1988 Part 4).
3.2 Water Outlet (B)
n Water drainage refer to Pos. "B" in the dimensional
drawings at the end of the handbook.
n Local water standards and regulations should be
adhered to.
n Drain water connection : an open drainage is
recommended (siphon with funnel with at least
Ø 32 mm)! DN 32 pipe, without kinks and with a constant
descending slope of at least 5% (3°). Alternative
connection using a DN 32 siphon.
The minimum inner diameter of the drain pipes for
one unit is 32 mm (without taper).
If several units are to be connected to one drain
pipe, the pipe must be dimensioned so that the
drain water can run off with no obstruction.
n Unit outlet = G 1 ¼" (not flexible)
n Average drain water temperature: 65°C
