At the most, the protector may be shortened to just before the marked rib (see fig. 3).
6.2 Finishing the Protector
1) Using a vibrating or band saw, shorten the protector along the bottom edge of the crepe
adhesive tape (see Fig. 8).
INFORMATION: Make sure that the closures are not shifted while sawing.
2) Deburr the cut edge.
Additional Instruction for Using a Torsion Adapter
► Using suitable tools, remove the profile ribs on the interior of the protector (see Fig. 9).
6.3 Installing the Protector and Foot Cuff
6.3.1 Installing the Foot Cuff
1) Remove the prosthetic foot from the tube adapter.
In doing so, unscrew the two set screws that are screwed in the furthest but are not opposite
each other. Mark the two set screws.
2) Pull the foot cuff over the tube adapter (see Fig. 10).
3) Install the prosthetic foot on the tube adapter (see Fig. 11).
Apply Loctite® 241 to the two set screws and screw them in.
4) Position the clips of the foot cuff on the footshell, aligning the seam to posterior.
5) Attach the clips in the footshell (see Fig. 12).
INFORMATION: When using the 1C40 C-Walk, the clips that do not engage have to be
removed.
6.3.2 Protector Installation
1) Remove the crepe adhesive tape from the protector after final shortening.
2) Open or remove the closures.
3) Spread open the protector.
4) Thread the protector into the foot cuff from anterior (see fig. 13).
5) Apply the protector to the knee.
INFORMATION: The retainers of the protector have to engage on the frame element.
6) Fasten the upper closure (see fig. 14) and lengthwise closure (see fig. 7) on the protector.

Ensure that all retainers and closures are properly engaged and/or fastened.
6.4 Installing and removing the shield insert
► Slide the shield insert into the recess of the applied protector from anterior and let it engage
(see fig. 15).

No hold of the shield insert on the protector.

Ensure that the protector has been installed properly and that all closures are fastened.
► By opening the closures and removing the protector from the knee joint, the shield insert
loses its hold and can be removed.
