7.4. Aeration system
7.4.1. Air pump
The air pumps V1 and V2 supply the stages B1
and B2 with the atmospheric oxygen required
for the biological treatment.
Checking the air pumps
During aeration, the carrier
material in the tanks B1 and B2
must be well agitated (small dead
spaces in the corners are not
significant).
However, uniform agitation does
not occur during the run-in period.
If the carrier material is not well agitated,
check:
The hose connections between the air
•
pumps and the diaphragm aerators.
The filters of air pumps for contamination.
•
Replace the filters if necessary.

For safety instructions, see the start of
chapter 7.
Warning!
Potentially lethal mains
voltage
Unplug the plug before
opening the air pump!
Make sure that the
supply voltage cannot
be switched back on
again accidentally.
Replacing the air pump:
1. Unplug the system's main plug.
2. Remove the air hose.
3. Detach the power plug connection.
4. Replace the air pump.
5. Install the new pump in reverse order.
6. Check function in manual operation (see
chapter 6.7.1)
Checking the aeration:
1. The tanks B1 and B2 must be filled to the
Min. level for this test.
2. Operate the air pump via manual operation
(see chapter 6.7.1).
3. Check the aeration in tanks B1 and B2.
