attack by environment (acid ...).
The equipment should be stored in a clean, dry room to ensure
that it will not be damaged by environmental attacks or stresses
(humidity / acid / shock / UV ...).
Furthermore, the safety harness should be regularly checked by
a competent person in accordance with the regulations and the
EN 361 standard.
This inspection must be carried out at least once every 12
months, with the result registered with the health and safety
department of the user company.
It is recommended that a record book is established containing
the prior study reference No., the lifeline's composition, inspec-
tions performed, any fall that has occurred in which the lifeline
came into operation, returning to good order or repairs carried
out, as well as any modifications that have been made to the life-
line. Incidentally, each PPE should be allocated its own identifi-
cation sheet in compliance with the EN 365 Standard.
When any point on a STOPCABLE lifeline has been put under
strain by a user falling, the entire lifeline, and more especially the
anchors, seals and securing points located in the fall zone, as
well as any PPE involved in the fall, MUST always be checked by
an appropriately qualified person before being put back into ser-
vice.
7 Prohibited incorrect usages
The use of the STOPCABLE lifeline in compliance with the
instructions contained in this manual offers a guarantee of total
safety. Nonetheless, it seems appropriate to advise the user
against the following incorrect methods of handling and usage:
IT IS PROHIBITED:
- to install any other part on the lifeline cable than that provided
for in the case study, and particularly any other part than those
supplied by Tractel as components of this lifeline,
- to modify the installation when not supervised by a competent
person for putting the prior study into operation,
- to use the lifeline cable as a means for suspension, other than
for a person's accidental fall,
- to try out the lifeline by deliberately falling,
- to pull on the guided-type anchor connector to attempt to relea-
se a possible obstacle, or to cross an intermediary cable guide,
- to link up to or disconnect from the lifeline cable in any other
place than that actually provided for and marked by a sign
plate,
- to link two or more persons at any one time on the line,
- to use any other fall-prevention device than the STOPCABLE
fall arrest device,
- to replace the anchor line by any other cable than a STOPCA-
BLE cable,
- to use the lifeline for two or more persons at any one time.
