Knee protection for working on the knees. Type 2, performance level 1 acc. to EN 14404:2004+A1:2010.
General information: Knee protection types
Knee protection pads are items to used protect the knees of people working on their knees. Knee protection type 1: Knee protection
that is independent of other clothing and is attached to the leg. Knee protection type 2: Foam plastic or other pads in pockets, on the
trouser legs or pads permanently attached to the trousers. The position of type 2 knee protection in or on the trousers can be permanent or
adjustable. Knee protection type 3: Equipment that is not attached to the body but moves to the required position as the wearer moves.
Either available for one knee or both knees. Knee protection type 4: Knee protection for one or both knees that is part of equipment with
additional functions, such as a stand assist or a seat for kneeling postures. The knee protection may be attached to the body or is used
independently from the body.
Performance levels: The performance level is determined from the combination of trousers and knee pads.
X = The performance level is stated
below the pictogram (rear side of the pad)
X
There are three performance levels: Level 0: Knee protection that is suitable for an even floor and does not offer puncture protection.
Level 1: Knee protection that is suitable for even or uneven floors and offers puncture protection up to a force of (100±5) N. The knee
pads are not suitable for surfaces with sharp objects that have a point pressure higher than 100 N and are larger than 1 cm (e.g.
in mines or quarries). Level 2: Knee protection that is suitable for even or uneven floors under difficult conditions and offers puncture
protection up to a force of (250±10) N.
Use: Protection according to EN 14404:2004+A1:2010 is only guaranteed, if worn in combination with the stated articles. Protection as
specified in EN 14404:2004+A1:2010 is not guaranteed, if worn in combination with another product or a competitor product. The knee
pads must be placed into suitable knee pockets and affixed in position so that the main pressure exerted onto the kneeling person lies
on the central part of the pad to ensure optimum pressure distribution. The moulded and notched knee side of the knee pad is always on
the outside, the inside is marked. For all work performed in a kneeling position and work on various surfaces provided that the workwear
is equipped with suitable knee pads and that they are used as intended. The knee pads are not chemical resistant, heat-resistant nor fire
resistant. Depending on the work task, the user should also wear other personal equipment (PPE) (e.g. goggles, helmet...). The protectability
should always be checked first or agreed with the manufacturer. All application areas that are not defined should be clarified with the
manufacturer. The manufacturer will not be liable for any damage caused by improper use e.g. excessive bending and kinking.
More information about knee pads: Warning:
– The knee pads are not suitable for use for securing the wearer in e.g. areas where there is a risk of falling.
– To prevent blood congesting in the legs and ensure normal blood circulation,
wearers should change their posture and stand up frequently.
– Kneel in an upright position, do not sit on the heels.
– Contact a doctor if your knees or calves swell up
– If ambient conditions, such as the temperature, change, the performance of the knee protection can be reduced significantly.
– No knee protection can offer full protection from injury
– Higher levels of dirt, changes or incorrect use can dangerously reduce the performance
of the knee protection or completely cancel it out.

– Universal size for adults between 50-100 kg. Performance may be impaired for wearers weighing more than 100 kg.
– The performance of the knee protection can be reduced at temperatures above 50 °C.

Harmlessness: The materials do not release any toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic or allergenic substances or any substances toxic for
reproduction, and are therefore harmless.
Care information: The knee pads may only be cleaned with cold water. Special washing additives and high washing or drying temperatures
are not allowed. Knee pads must be removed from the trousers for cleaning, washing, drying and ironing, and then returned to the knee
pockets again. Do not wash in the washing machine.
Water resistance: The knee protection pad is water resistant. However, a waterproofness test was not conducted.
Knee pad test: If a knee pad shows signs of wear, e.g. cuts or notches on the surface, it must be replaced because it can no longer guaran-
tee the specified protection. Knee pads may not be repaired.
Storage and transport: The knee pads must always be transported and stored in a dry, cool place and protected against sunlight.
Expiry time: There is an expiry date, month and year (MM/YYYY), and a lot number on the knee pads. Normal wear and tear is excluded
from the aging expiry date.
Disposal: Faulty knee pads can be disposed of in the household waste.
Main parts: Knee pads are primarily made of polyethylene
General information about PPE: Care information & aging: The PPE requires regular and professional care. The material composition
of the textile is stated on the sewn-on care label. The information on the care label is decisive for ensuring that the protective effect is
maintained as well as possible. Only dry the items in a shadowy place and store them in a dry place away from direct sunlight. It is possible
that the wear or damage incurred during regular use will significantly reduce the service life of the clothing. Soiling, wet, sweat or bleaching
as a result of direct sunlight can reduce the service life of the PPE.
Possible aging factors include:
– Cleaning, maintenance or disinfection processes
– Impact of high or low temperatures or temperature changes
– Effect of chemicals including moisture
– Mechanical effects (wear, bending stress, compressive and tensile loads)
– Contamination, e.g. dirt, oil, splashes of molten metals, etc.
– Wear
After each washing and drying cycle, check if there are any tears in the textile or if the elastic bands have become brittle. Both are a sign
that the protective effect of the textile can no longer be guaranteed. Repairs can only be carried out by competent companies.
Usage limits & risk analysis:
– Always wear protective clothing closed to ensure that the function is fulfilled.
– Ensure that the protective clothing is not too tight because this could limit your ability to move. Set the waist and cuffs of the garment
and also the trousers to your personal size. Ensure that the clothing has the right width and length. Clothing that is too tight or wide
can impact on the protective effect.
– For reasons of safety, do not make any independent changes.
– There is also a risk of irreversible damage when the impact of the risk exceeds the tested values
or the tested duration, and occur in combination.
