1 FIELD OF APPLICATION
1.1 General
The escape apparatus of the FUGE series protect the wearer's respiratory tract to escape from areas where
gases or lack of oxygen threaten human life.
The demand regulator keeps a positive pressure into the face mask.
1.2 Limits and warnings
It is mandatory to follow the instructions given in this booklet.
The escape breathing apparatus of the FUGE series shall not be used underwater or for maintenance
interventions even for a short time. Model FUGE RESCUE however can also be used for short inspections.
The apparatus can be used in potentially explosive areas Zones 1 and 2.
The limited weight of the set with composite cylinder allow to carry the apparatus along for an entire work
shift as a precaution in case of unexpected danger. The heavier version with steel cylinder, can be carried
along for no more than two or three hours. Whilst choosing the respirator bear in mind the weight factor to
best suit the intended use.
1.3 Duration
The actual duration of the apparatus depends on the wearer's breathing rate and capacity. The nominal
duration set by the relevant standard is 15 minutes at a constant flow of 35 l/min.
1.4 End of service
Whilst in use, the wearer can check the remaining autonomy by means of the pressure gauge. At the end of
the air reserve the wearer can breathe from the surrounding atmosphere by disconnecting the demand
regulator from the mask. At that point the user shall already be away from the hazardous area.
