III. REPROCESSING OF THE CONTRA-ANGLES

3.1 General information

The sterilization process does not affect the performance of dental handpieces and contra-angles. The end of the devices' service
life is usually determined by damages due to use.
•
Immediately after every use, withdraw excessive residues with a disinfecting wipe.

Do not use products containing acetone, chlorine or bleach as disinfectants! If using disinfecting wipes or jets, follow the instructions
of use for these products.

It is recommended to reprocess the contra-angle directly after every use. If this is not possible, immediately rinse the contra-angle

with water to prevent any impurities, blood or saliva from drying or coagulating inside the device.
If blood or saliva has penetrated the contra-angle, immediately after use dismantle the contra-angle and rinse thoroughly with

cold water in order to remove the non-coagulated blood. After this, follow the cleaning process prior to sterilization. This process

must be carried out before liquids like blood, physiological salt solution, saliva, etc. can dry or coagulate
inside the contra-angle.

Caution:
If you dismantle two contra-angles at the same time, make sure that you do not mix up the components, even if the two contra-angles
have identical reduction ratios. In case you mix up two contra-angles with different reduction ratios, when assembling them make
sure that the reduction ratio engraved on the reducing module matches the reduction ratio indicated on the sleeve (20:1 or 100:1).
3.2 Manual cleaning prior to sterilization
(Follow instructions after every use.)
The immersion of the contra-angle during pre-disinfecting stage (immersion time must not exceed 15 minutes) is authorized in
accordance with the following instructions:
•
Use a detergent-disinfectant product specifically intended to the pre-disinfection of dental handpieces and contra-angles which
does not contain soda based products or aldehyde.
•
Comply with the concentration recommended by the pre-disinfectant manufacturer.
•
Respect the immersion time recommended by the pre-disinfectant manufacturer.
•
After immersion, rinse abundantly to eliminate the liquid / residues mixture contained in the contra-angle.
•
Immediately after rinsing, thoroughly dry the inside of the contra-angle using compressed air.
•
Before sterilization, lubricate the contra-angle using an oil spray ("500l" by MICRO-MEGA
