current, a reinforced earthing must
additional be connected to according EN 50 178.
• Signal input and output connections
Prior to commencing work on the pump, the supply voltage
must be switched off. Due to the danger of electric shocks,
work on the module may only be continued five minutes after
the supply voltage has been cut off. Check that all connections
(potential-free contacts too) are neutral.
Do not connect an external voltage, as this could

destroy the module.

The frequency and therefore the speed and/or nominal pressure fol-
lows the voltage, or the current if a current signal is selected
(FIG. 8 and 9).

The voltage is short-circuit-proof.
• SALMSON differential pressure sensor connection:
For module SIE..BV already factory-connected, via terminals 3, 7, 4, in
accordance with the sensor cable descriptions (1), (2), (3).

6. OPERATION
6.1 Filling and venting the unit
- The system must be filled and vented properly.
- To avoid noise and damage resulting from cavitation, it is important
to ensure a minimum inlet pressure at the port of the pump. The
minimum inlet pressure depends on the location and point of ope-
ration and must be determined accordingly. Considerable para-
meters in determining the minimum inlet pressure are the NPSH
value of the pump at its operation point and the steam pressure of
the flow medium.
- Vent the pump by opening the vent valve (FIG 10 - item 1.31).
CAUTION !
Depending on the fluid temperature and the system pressure,
if the vent valve is completely loosened hot liquid or gas can
escape
BEWARE OF SCALDING !
CAUTION VOLTAGE ! Protect terminal box from leaking water
while venting.

6.2 Setting the pump power

The system is set to a specific operating point (point of maximum
load, calculated maximum heating requirements). When starting up
for the first time, the pump capacity (delivery head) is to be set in
accordance with the system operating point. The presetting does not

isolation" (to EN50178) to the line terminals, as well
as to the SBM and SSM terminals (and vice versa).
