4.1

System set-up

Risk of infection and contamination!
Prior to using the products, carry out sterile
WARNING
processing of any accessories (elliptical shaft/
handpiece/tool) provided that these are
intended for multiple use.
Make certain that the packaging of sterile prod-
ucts is undamaged. Do not use products from
open or damaged sterile packaging.
Do not use the product after its use-by date.
Increased risk of injury if the product is used
beyond its intended use!
Use the product only according to its intended

use.
Improper use can result in injury to the dura mater
and brain tissues!
This perforator may be used only after training
WARNING
by the Aesculap medical products consultant.
For information about product training, please
contact your national B. Braun/Aesculap
agency.
Apply special care when using motor-powered
trepanation systems. The cranial perforator can
be used safely and reliably only if the user is
fully familiar with the perforator and its opera-
tion.
Always follow the safety advice and information
given in the instructions for use of the cranial
perforators.
Risk of injury and material damage due to inadver-
tent activation of the motor
WARNING
due to inadvertent activation of the foot control
or
due to a defect of the foot control or device!
Never rest the handpiece within the reach of the
patient.
Hold the tool at its shaft and do not touch the
cutting edges when coupling/uncoupling a tool.
Position the foot control so that the pedal is not
inadvertently activated or jammed.
Risk of injury and material damage due to inappro-
priate use of handpieces/attachments and tools!
WARNING
Always follow the safety advice and information
given in the instructions for use.
Hold the tool at its shaft and do not touch the
cutting edges when coupling/uncoupling a tool.
Do not exceed the specified maximum motor
speed.
Risk of burns to patient and user, due to hot ellip-
tical shaft/hot handpiece/hot tool!
WARNING
Tools must be continuously cooled during oper-
ation.
Never rest the motor/handpiece/tool within the
reach of the patient.
Connecting the accessories
Risk of injury due to unapproved configuration
using additional components!
DANGER
For all applied components, ensure that their
classification matches that of the application
component (e.g. Type BF or Type CF) of the
respective device.
Combinations of accessories that are not mentioned in the present
instructions for use may only be employed if they are specifically intended
for the respective application, and if they do not compromise the perfor-
mance and safety characteristics of the products.
All configurations must comply with basic standard IEC/DIN EN 60601-1.
Any individual connecting devices with one another is responsible for such
configuration and must ensure compliance with basic standard IEC/DIN
EN 60601-1 or applicable national standards.
