the operations can be continued with
the front targets only; it will not be possible to
use the rear sensors at a later point.
N.B. Any geometrical errors in the rim or clamp
mounting errors will not be considered.
In some conditions (e.g. cars with rigid suspen-
sion systems and alloy rims) it is advisable to
skip the compensation procedure because after
the car has been lifted the suspensions may
settle into a position different from the normal
operating position.
This may generate errors of a greater magnitude
than those caused by a misshapen rim.

In this stage, the system measures the caster,
king pin angle, 20° steering angle differences and
front maximum steering angle values.
Engage the clamping brake, fit the pedal de-
pressor to operate the brake and release the
turntables.
The first stage of preparation for the steering lock
operation is to set the wheels straight (Fig. 25).
Level the targets with the aid of a spirit level.
Fix the targets in place on the brackets using the
relative locking device.
Once these operations are complete the pro-
gramme automatically moves on to the screen
for the 10° or 20° steering lock.
Following the graphics on the screen:
- Turn the front wheels in the direction shown
to 10° or 20°.
- Bring the arrow into the green measurement
field; use the zoom window which appears
close to the number 10° or 20°.
- Wait for the data to be saved, confirmed by
the saving symbol.
- Turn the wheels in the other direction in the
same way.
- Wait for the data to be saved.
- Return the wheels to the straight position.
