Only trained and qualified technicians are permitted to perform
work on the vehicle.
Always follow specifications and instructions of vehicle manu-
facturer.
Always comply with the company's regulations for the preven-
tion of accidents and national regulations.
Make provisions for a safe work environment:
Wear any necessary protective clothing.
Keep your workplace organized.
Access to the vehicle is not permitted to unauthorised person-
nel.
Note the manufacturer's information and safety information for
the respective product when working with operational materials
(oils, grease, etc.).

Specifies a possible hazardous
situation
Not observing the safety instruc-
tion can result in slight to medium-
serious injuries.
Follow the instructions in this
warning to avoid injury.
Pedal actuations can lead to severe injuries if persons are in the
vicinity of the vehicle. Make sure that pedals cannot be actuated as
follows:
Switch the transmission to 'neutral' and actuate the park brake.
Secure the vehicle against rolling with chocks.
Fasten a visible note to the steering wheel indicating the work is
being performed on the vehicle and that the pedals are not to be
actuated.

Adapter application
3.1
Single adapter application
To ensure that the indicated group of single block ECAS1 devices
is upgraded correctly use the following ECAS3 device with the
adapter:

Dual adapter application
To ensure that the indicated group of double block ECAS1 devices
is upgraded correctly use the following ECAS3 device with the two
adapters:

Replacing an ECAS1 valve
4.1
Preparations
Before starting to replace an ECAS1 valve, ensure you carry out the
following steps:
Depressurise the pneumatic suspension
Lower the lifting axle (if installed).
Switch off the ignition.
Deactivate the ECAS stand-by function )if available(.
4.2
Single block ECAS1 valve
4.2.1
Disassembly
Detach the device for ease of inspection. Do not disconnect
any cables or pneumatic lines at this stage.
Label the pneumatic lines according to the port designations on
the housing. This step is necessary to ensure that subsequently
the pneumatic lines are correctly reconnected to the new valve.
Once you have completed this step the pneumatic lines can be
disconnected using an open-ended spanner )size 27(.
