2. Safety
2�1 Warnings
• Use only accessories that can safely operate at the maximum pressure.
• After installing (and connecting) the apparatus, the whole installation must be checked
for safety.
• Never exceed the maximum pressure indicated on the accessories.
• (On models without integrated pump.) Never use the hose to move the connected
accessories.
2�2 Safety risks
• Leaks can occur if the accessories are not connected properly. Examine all accessories
before pressurising the system.
• Never use hands or fingers to check for or locate system leaks! This could result in
hydraulic oil being injected under the skin, leading to the potential loss of the hand or
finger in question!
• Fill the system with hydraulic oil only when all the cylinders are fully retracted. Overfilling
can result in injury when pressure is built up in the reservoir.
• If a Spreader, Lifter or Splitter is not positioned correctly, parts can break off due to
incorrect loading.
2�3 Safety aids
• BETEX® pumps are fitted with internal safety valves that open as soon as the maximum
pressure is reached. The hydraulic oil passes through the safety valves and back into the
reservoir. Never adjust the settings of the safety valves. This applies also to models with
integrated pump.
• The pump reservoir is fitted with a bleeder for preventing pressure or vacuum building
up in the reservoir.
• The Spreaders and Lifters are supplied with a safety block. This can be used to bear the
forces so that the Spreader, Lifter or Splitter can be removed.
2�4 Inadvisable usage
• Use the Spreader, Lifter or Splitter only in combination with the appropriate accessories.
Check that all components are suitable for the maximum force that the Spreader, Lifter
or Splitter can generate.
2.5 Safety measures (to be applied by the user)
• After installation of all the components and accessories, assess whether the entire
system is safe to operate.
• Always check everything each time before using. If any of the accessories are damaged,
they must be replaced or repaired before use by skilled personnel (or the supplier).
Damaged hoses must be replaced immediately.
