EndoBarrier GI Liner
Illustration of the GI liner in the duodenum
The EndoBarrier GI Liner has:
A nitinol anchor
An impermeable, fluoropolymer liner with a proximal radiopaque marker
Two retrieval drawstrings
The anchor attaches the GI liner to the wall of the bulbous duodenum, proximal to the ampulla of vater. The anchor provides a
seal to ensure that chyme passes inside the liner, and barbs on the circumference of the anchor engage the muscularis for fixation.
The EndoBarrier liner extends 61 cm into the small bowel from the anchor site.

The EndoBarrier GI liner is pre-loaded into and
delivered on a custom Delivery Catheter. The Delivery
Catheter is approximately three (3) meters long for trans-
oral delivery of the EndoBarrier into the jejunum. The
catheter is sufficiently flexible to track through the
intestine and has a ball on its distal end to facilitate
atraumatic tracking through the bowel. The collapsed GI
liner is packed into a capsule at the distal end of the outer
catheter. Once the EndoBarrier is fully extended in the
intestine as seen on fluoroscopy, the distal ball is
released and passes through the bowel naturally. The
anchor is then deployed in the bulbous duodenum and
the catheter is removed.
