4.5.4 ADJUSTMENT TABLE OF THE SEEDER WITH MACHINE
STATIONARY
4.5.5 TRIAL SOWING
For precise sowing, we recommend performing a trial sowing
with the machine stationary to check the desired quantity to be
sown by proceeding. During the sowing test, pay attention to the
points at which there are parts in movement: stirrer shaft, dosing
rollers, etc.
Perform the preliminary adjustments given in the adjustments table
(Table 4), according to seed type, and in the following order:
- Gear lever position according to the quantity to be distributed
(from «0» to «55»). Table 5
- Feeler position (from «1» to «9»). Table 4
- Selection of distributor rollers (coarse or fi ne teeth).
- Opening of the sliding doors (pos. «0» - «1» - «2»).
- Type of distributor roller
Once the machine has been set, proceed as follows:
1) Lower the rack (P, Fig. 27).
2) Release the seed-test trays (Fig. 28) and position them beneath
the seed discharge mouths.
3) Fill the seed hopper to mid-load.
4) Insert the crank (Fig. 29) on the gearbox shaft and rotate
clockwise.
5) Before starting the test, turn the handle a few times to load the
distributors with seed, then empty the seed collecting trays.
6) Turn the crank the number of turns given in the «GEARBOX
TURNS» (Table 6) table for the type of roller and working
width.
7) Weigh the seed collected in the trays and multiply the weight
by 100 or 40, depending on the number of rotations made.
The value obtained is the number of kilograms distributed per
hectare (Fig.30).
4.5.6 EASY METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE NUMBER OF
SOWING TEST
The number of gearbox turn given in the table to be performed
for the stationary sowing test have been calculated on the basis
of ideal conditions. In actual working situations other factors
can cause signifi cant variations between the values given in
the table and actual sowing results. The most common of the-
se are: loss of the roller adherence caused by moisture and/
or terrain conditions, fertilizers or other products mixed in with
the seed that reduce its fl ow rate, variations in seed weight, etc.
To obtain the actual number of gear rotations (for 1/100 ha), pro-
ceed as follows:
for a seeder 3,00 m wide. When large quantities are to be distributed
per hectare (e.g. wheat, barley, peas, etc.) set the planting unit as
in Table 4 and fi ll the hopper to half its normal load.
