An interactive menu and a rotary knob on the front of the housing
are used to operate the switchgear, display the operating state,
and signal faults. The housing cover must not be opened during
operation.
DANGER due to electrical voltage
There is a risk of fatal electric shocks occurring
when performing work on the open switchgear.
Only operate the switchgear with the cover closed!
2.5.

Directives used

This switchgear is subject to:
• Various EC directives
• Various harmonised standards
• Various national standards.
See the EC Declaration of Conformity for precise details of the
guidelines and standards used.
Also, various national regulations are used as a basis for operat-
ing, installation and dismantling the switchgear. These include
the German accident prevention regulations, VDE regulations and
German Equipment Safety Law.
2.6.

CE marking

The CE marking is found either on the type plate or near the type
plate. The rating plate is attached to the switch cabinet door.

Product description

The switchgear has been manufactured with great care and is
subject to constant quality controls. Trouble-free operation is
guaranteed if it is installed and maintained correctly.
3.1.

Intended use and fields of application

DANGER of explosions!
If the connected pumps and signal transmitter are
used in potentially explosive areas, the Ex-version
of the switchgear (SC-L...-Ex) must be used. Use of
the standard switchgear can lead to fatal injury due
to explosions! Connection must always be carried
out by a qualified electrician.
The SC-Lift switchgear is designed for
• automatic control of 1 to 4 pumps with approval for po-
tentially explosive areas (SC-L...-Ex variant) in lifting units
and sewage shafts for delivery of water/sewage.
The switchgear must not
• be used in potentially explosive areas.
• be overflowed.
Intended use also includes observation of these instructions. Any
other use is regarded as non-compliant with the intended use.
NOTE
For automatic control, suitable signal transmitters
(float switch or level sensor) must be provided by the
customer.

Set-up

Fig. 1.: Overview of operating components
1 Main switch
2 LC display
The switchgear comprises the following main components:
• Main switch: for switching the switchgear on/off
• Control panel:
• LEDs for displaying the current operating state (opera-
tion/fault)
• LC display for displaying the current operating data and
individual menu items
• Operating knob for menu selection and parameter input
• Contactor combinations for activating the individual
pumps in direct-on-line start-up and star-delta start-up,
including thermal triggers for protection against excessive
current and time relays for star-delta changeover.
3.3.

How it works

The microcontroller-controlled Smart Control switchgear is de-
signed for control of up to 4 individual pumps with a fixed speed
capable of level-dependent switching.
Level measurement is via corresponding signal transmitters, which
need to be provided by the customer. Level measurement is via
a two-position control for each pump. Depending on fill level,
base-load and peak-load pumps are switched on or off automati-
cally. The relevant operating parameters are set via the menu.
When dry run level or high water level is reached, a visual signal is
output and forced switch-off or switch-on of the relevant pumps
occurs. Faults are recorded and stored in the error log.
The current operating data and operating states are indicated on
the LC display and via LEDs on the front side. These are controlled
via a rotary knob on the front side.
3.4.

Operating modes

The switchgear can be used for two different operating modes:
• Empty
• Fill
Selection is via the menu.
3.4.1. "Empty" operating mode
The reservoir or sump is drained. The connected pumps are acti-
vated when the level rises and switched off when the level falls.
3.4.2. "Fill" operating mode
The reservoir is filled. The connected pumps are activated when
the level falls and switched off when the level rises.
3.5.

Technical data

3.5.1. Inputs
• 1 analogue input for the level sensor
• 5 digital inputs for float switches
• Base-load pump ON
• Peak-load pump(s) ON
• Pumps OFF
• High water
• Dry-running protection/water level too low
