DEVICE DESCRIPTION
The Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device is described in the following. It is equipped
with custom accessories and includes an integrated electrical power supply. See Figures 3 to 7 on
page 7.
1. Display
This allows information such as the pressure, device settings and the time to be viewed.

2. Left control button
This allows the selection of the feature offered at the lower left of the display. For further
details, refer to "", on page 44.
3. Ramp button
This allows the ramp time setting to be accessed, but only when the device is in standby
mode (for further information, see "", on page 44). It is also used to select parameters
from the device-setting menus.
4. On/off button
This allows the device to be turned on or off when it is in standby mode. It is used also to
exit the device-setting menus.
5. Right control button
This allows the selection of the feature offered at the lower right of the display. For further
details, refer to "", on page 44.
6. Power port
This is where the detachable power cord is connected. For further information, refer to "",
on page 44.
7. External battery port
This allows the device to be powered by an external battery or a cigarette-lighter power
cable. For further information, refer to "Installation for use with battery power or
(optional) cigarette-lighter cable", on page 12.
8. Air intake filters
These filters prevent dust in the airflow from entering the device. Refer to "Cleaning and
Maintenance", on page 32, for further information about how to maintain these filters.
9. Heating element (depending on model)
The built-in heated humidifier located beneath the water chamber allows the water in the
water chamber to be heated.

Avoid all contact with this element.
10. Serial cable/USB connector
This connector available on Sandman Duo™ and Sandman DuoST™ devices is for the use
of your physician or home care provider. Do not connect anything to it.
11. Memory card connector
This connector allows the insertion of the memory card to download the data in the
device's memory. For further information, refer to "", on page 44.
12. Outlet connector
Located on the cover of the device or above the water chamber, this is the air outlet to
which the patient tubing will be connected. For further information, refer to "Installation",
on page 8.
13. Water chamber (depending on model)
This is a transparent plastic container located at the rear of the device. It is designed to
hold the water needed for humidification and is marked to show the maximum fill level for
water.
