WARNINGS
1.
Before each use, inspect the Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device following
the instructions provided under "Checking the components and device preparation",
on page 4.
2.
Use only the accessories received from the home care provider. Confirm the
'Directions for Use' instructions for each accessory are in the package and read
them carefully.
3.
Follow the device installation procedure defined under "Installation", on page 8 of
this manual
4.
Keep the Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device far from any source of water.
If the device is equipped with an integrated humidifier, fill the water chamber well
away from the device to avoid any water spilling onto the device.
5.
If supplemental oxygen is to be introduced, carefully follow the instructions and
safety precautions for using oxygen, as indicated under "Installing an oxygen
adapter (optional) ", on page 11.
6.
Do not use the Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device near flammable vapors,
and in particular do not use the integrated heated humidifier near flammable
anesthetics, whether they are present alone or in combination with other gases.
7.
Be careful not to obstruct the air outlet or any other opening of the device or
respiratory circuit either accidentally or intentionally. Do not introduce liquids or
objects into the air outlet.
8.
Contact the home care provider if the device is not working properly. Maintenance of
this equipment is to be performed by skilled personnel only. Do not try to open the
device (risk of electric shock).
9.
If the device is equipped with an integrated humidifier, precautions must be taken
by the patient when using the water chamber to eliminate the risk of introducing
water into the device, which could cause irreversible damage to it. The device must
be placed on a horizontal and stable surface, it must not be sloped. The water
chamber should always be emptied before moving or transporting the device.

If the device is equipped with an integrated humidifier, the humidifier must be
cleaned before first use, after any technical intervention, and regularly thereafter,
following the instructions provided under "Cleaning and Maintenance", on page 32.
11.
Do not use the device if the water chamber is leaking. Leaking may indicate
deterioration of the gasket.
12.
The water chamber of the integrated humidifier is designed for 'Single Patient Use'
only.
13.
The heated humidifier must not be used where the ambient temperature is higher
than 35˚C (95˚F) because the temperature of the air delivered to the patient could
exceed 41˚C (105.8˚F), which could pose a risk of scalding.
14.
Do not use this device if the unit appears to be defective or damaged.

Indications for use

The Sandman Duo™ or Sandman DuoST™ device is indicated for the treatment of
obstructive sleep apnea in spontaneously breathing patients weighing more than 30kg
(66lb) within homecare and hospital environments.
