INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Remove the ATRA Sump from the packaging using aseptic technique.
2. After removing the ATRA Sump from the packaging, inspect the packaging and product
for damage.
WARNING: Inspect the product thoroughly for damage prior to use. Damage to the
product (i.e., crimps, kinking, distortion or cuts in tubing) may result in obstruction or
disruption of flow during use and product performance may be affected. Do not use
damaged product.
3. Flush the ATRA Sump.
4. Connect the ATRA Sump's 1/4" proximal connector to the suction line.
5. Using appropriate surgical technique, place the ATRA Sump to the surgical field.
6. After proper placement of the ATRA Sump, use proper surgical technique to operate the
ATRA Sump in removing excess fluid from the surgical field.
WARNING: Do not bend the ATRA Sump tubing excessively as this may kink the tubing
ceasing or reducing the suction.
WARNING: Suction tip requires monitoring and adjustment to assure safe positioning
for proper drainage.
WARNING: Suctioned blood should not be reused due to its relatively high level of
hemolysis and particular debris.
7. Upon completion of the procedure, remove the ATRA Sump from the surgical field using
proper surgical technique.
8. Disconnect it from the suction line and discard it properly.
DISPOSAL
Handle with care after use as the product may be contaminated with blood and/or body
fluids. Dispose of in accordance with applicable regulations in the country of use.

RETURN OF USED PRODUCTS

For Customers Outside the United States
If for any reason this product must be returned, please contact your sales representative for
specific instructions.
If the product has been in contact with blood or body fluids, it must be thoroughly cleaned
and disinfected before packing. It should be shipped in either the original carton, or an
equivalent carton, to prevent damage during shipment.
CAUTION
It is the responsibility of the health care institution to adequately prepare and identify the
product for return shipment. Do not return products that have been exposed to blood borne
infectious diseases.
