2.4 GENERAL SAFETY PROVISIONS
The operator must comply with the advice and warnings given below in
order to ensure safe, long-lasting machine performance:
• do not allow untrained staff to use the machine;
• prepare an optimal worktop, making sure that the operational space is
free from obstacles, clean and has suitable lighting;
• avoid distractions when using the machine;
• in the event of a malfunction follow the advice given in this manual; if in
doubt, stop the machine and contact your Authorised After-Sales Centre
immediately;
• never use a faulty machine;
• do not open machine compartments containing electric parts;
• do not replace the power supply cable or tamper with the supplied plug;
• it is prohibited to work objects with features different from those for
which the machine has been designed;
• before carrying out any cleaning, routine and/or extraordinary
maintenance, make sure that the machine has been unplugged from the
mains power supply;
• always make sure that there are no foreign bodies inside the work area.
These could prevent damage to the machine and/or injury to the staff;
• do not use petrol or flammable solvents as detergents; use only non-
flammable, non-corrosive and non-toxic substances. (see paragraph 8.1).
• Zhermack cannot be held responsible for any damage to the
equipment owing to incorrect maintenance performed by
unskilled staff or maintenance that does not comply with that
stated in this manual.
• As of this moment Zhermack is relieved from any injury/
damage to persons/objects that should occur following any
different use and use not declared in this manual.
The machine has an electrical plant therefore, in the event of a
fire, no matter how small, only use powder extinguishers. Do not
use water.
CHAPTER 3: DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
3.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
The machine described in this Manual is the modulmix mixer, designed
to automatically batch and mix dental impression silicones, which are
packaged in cartridges with a mixing ration of 5:1.

The machine has been built in compliance with the EEC Directives stated in
the attached "CE Declaration of Conformity. Use the identification data to
request spare parts, information and After-Sales Assistance from authorised
centres. If the plate should deteriorate with use and become illegible, even
partially, request a replacement from the Manufacturer stating all data.
Do not remove and/or ruin the plate so that the machine
identification data can be recognised at all times.

CHAPTER 4: TECHNICAL FEATURES
4.1 TECHNICAL FEATURES AND FUNCTIONING PRINCIPLE

Modulmix has a cutting-edge compact and linear design which guarantees
reduced encumbrance upon work surfaces; the transparent plastic door
allows immediate inspection of the material being used and the quantity of
material contained in the cartridge. Moreover, the double control buttons
for the 2-speed motor, positioned on the right and left, near the extrusion
zone, allow visual checks during filling of the impression tray and make
work stage easier. Finally, modulmix has a button for motorised piston
advance or retraction in order to speed up the cartridge change process.

CHAPTER 5: TRANSPORT AND HANDLING
5.1 GENERAL WARNINGS
In order to prevent injury/damage to persons/objects, pay great
care when handling the machine, scrupulously complying with
all precautions and instructions contained in the following
paragraphs.
5.2 PACKAGING AND UNPACKING
Fig. D: All material is carefully controlled by the Manufacturer before
delivery. On receiving the machine, make sure that it has not been damaged
during transport and that the packaging has not been tampered with,
resulting in missing parts. Should any damage or missing parts be noted,
inform the Dealer and the Carrier immediately by forwarding photographic
evidence. The packaging, made up of a cardboard box with expanded
plastic internal protections, contains:
• the modulmix mixer;
• the material supplied (see par. 4.2.1);
• the Use and Maintenance Manual;
• the quick guide.
