6.7 DECLARED USE, NON-DECLARED AND PROHIBITED USE
The modulmix mixer has been designed to:
• automatically batch and mix dental impression silicones, which are
packaged in cartridges with a mixing ration of 5:1.
Using the machine for any purpose other than that described in
this manual shall be considered improper and thus forbidden.
The improper use of the machine renders the warranty null
and void and Zhermack declines all liability for any damage to
objects and injury to operators or third parties.
The main reasons for which the warranty is rendered null and void are given
in paragraph 2.2 and in the "Warranty Certificate" attached to this Manual.
CHAPTER 7: USING THE MACHINE
7.1 GENERAL WARNINGS
Never use the machine if parts have been disassembled: before
use always check the perfect positioning of each individual
machine component.
• For total certainty of safe operation, scrupulously follow the
work phases given below.
• For the extrusion of silicones packaged in aluminium
cartridges always use the slow mode.
The high performance of modulmix is guaranteed using
Zhermack silicones.
7.2 SAFETY SYSTEMS
With the purpose of ensuring maximum reliability, Zhermack uses only
the best materials and components to build its machines, putting them
through stringent tests prior to delivery. All materials are top quality and
their introduction into the company, storage and use in the workshop
is controlled constantly in order to guarantee there is no damage,
deterioration and/or malfunctioning.
All construction elements, connections and controls have been designed
and realised to a high safety levels that can resist anomalous stress or
however higher than those indicated in this manual.
It is prohibited to use the machine for any other use than
that specified in this manual. The Manufacturer is
exonerated from any liability for damage of any nature
caused by the incorrect and/or different use of the machine
from that stated above.
7.3 USING MODULMIX

the cartridge inside. Advance the pistons and close the door.

7.3.1 FILLING STAGE

7.3.3 REMOVING THE CARTRIDGE

To insert and remove the cartridge easily, keep the fast
pistons advance/retraction control button fully pressed.

RESIDUAL RISKS

Residual risks are:
• a danger that cannot be totally eliminated through design and the
application of safety devices;
• a potential danger that cannot be highlighted.
In order to prevent accidents, always operate with respect to
that described in this Manual. If in doubt, always contact the
Manufacturer or Authorised After-Sales Centre.
CHAPTER 8: MAINTENANCE
8.1 CLEANING THE MACHINE
Use a dry cloth to clean the machine exterior. If necessary, dampen the cloth
with a small amount of water or a non-degreasing detergent (see paragraph
2.4). The operator must ensure that the machine is kept clean and free from
any foreign bodies such as debris, water, non-conducting liquids etc. For
this purpose cleaning must be performed at the end of every shift, with the
machine in stable conditions.
• Before cleaning the outside of the machine, always make sure
that the master switch is off. It is prohibited to clean the
machine when it is connected to the electric power supply
mains.
• Do not use inflammable, corrosive, alkaline or toxic liquids to
clean the machine.
8.2 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
Once the machine has been cleaned (see paragraph 8.1), the operator must
check for worn, damaged or loose parts. If any such situations are detected,
contact the Authorised After-Sales Centre.
If any of the previously-described situations should occur, it is
prohibited to re-start the machine before the problems have
been solved.
In particular, before moving away from the machine, the operator detecting
problems of any nature must place a sign on the it indicating that
maintenance is in progress and that use is prohibited (EC-compliant signs
can be purchased from the relevant suppliers).
Routine maintenance, cleaning and correct machine use are essential
factors in guaranteeing long-lasting machine performance and safety.
Machine safety devices/guards must never be removed except
for repairs and/or extraordinary maintenance.
They must be restored as soon as the reasons for their temporary
removal no longer exist and in all cases before the machine is
used again.
8.3 EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE
Extraordinary maintenance includes the repair of any accidental breakage
and the replacement of worn or malfunctioning parts.
All electrical and mechanical interventions must only be
performed by a Zhermack authorised maintenance technician.
Any modification that alters machine features from a safety and
risk-prevention point of view can only be carried out by the
Manufacturer who will then certify conformity of the machine
with safety standards. Therefore any modification or
maintenance intervention not considered in this manual is to be
considered prohibited. Any modification, tampering or repair
performed by unauthorised staff along with the use of non-
original spare parts relieve the Manufacturer from any liability.
If the necessary maintenance interventions are not considered
in this Use and Maintenance Manual, contact the Authorised
After-Sales Centre.
