Method 2 - Measurement
Legend for f igure 3:
X: Seal size
Y: Circumference (cm)
A: Tight fit
B: Loose fit
Measure the circumference (in centimeters) at the appropriate location,
directly on the skin.
Refer to the graph in Figure 3 to estimate correct device size.
Examples:
• Circumference of 40 cm corresponds to device sizes 44 or 47.
• Circumference of 26 cm corresponds to device sizes 28 or 30.
DONNING
1. The device must be clean, and free from dirt prior to use. If necessary,
rinse with water, and dry with a lint-free cloth.
2. Use fabric end of device to pull on, and adjust to the desired location
(Figures 4 & 5).
Precautions:
• Silicone portion of device must not extend proximal to the socket
brim (Figure 6).
• Device must be aligned with the silicone bands on the Iceross Seal-In
X Liner to achieve a proper seal (Figure 6).
• Device must not be worn directly on an exposed residual limb.
• Do NOT use creams, lotions, or other lubricants with the device, as
this will cause it to soften and expand over time, affecting its ability to
be held in tension on the Iceross Seal-In X Liner.
NB: The uppermost seal lip of the device should be no closer to the
socket brim than indicated in Figure 1.
SOCKET CONSTRUCTION GUIDELINES
Recommended socket materials to ensure long-term device function:
– All PETG materials
– Laminated sockets
– Thermoplastic inner socket materials with smooth surface
– EVA inner socket materials
The inner surface of the socket must be airtight and as smooth as
possible, irrespective of socket material.
To achieve as the smoothest surface possible on the plaster positive
model, it is recommended to use fine abrasives for final smoothing,
followed by silicone spray.
Use of soft/smooth socket lining material will prolong device sealing
function.
An expulsion valve with release function, such as in the Icelock 500
series, is essential for proper device suspension functioning. The socket
valve must be positioned as distally as possible, below the device.
Socket Donning
Precautions
• Do NOT use alcohol spray, as this will cause the low-friction coating
of the device to break down, making correct socket donning difficult,
and reducing device functionality.
