• Do NOT use creams or lotions with the device, as this will cause it to
soften and expand over time, affecting its ability to be held in tension
against the Iceross Seal-In X Liner.
With the Iceross Seal-In X Liner and device correctly configured, simply
step into the socket, expelling all air until fully engaged into the distal end
(Figure 7).
Socket Fit
Achieving the intended function of the Iceross Seal-In System is
dependent on the fit of the hard socket. Appropriate socket design is
essential to achieve suspension, control, and comfort.
The following checklist should be used when checking the socket fit:
• User can don the socket easily without the use of lubricant aids.
• Full contact between the device lips and the socket inner wall.
• No air pockets develop when the user loads the prosthesis.
• Good proximal fit.
• No pistoning in the socket.
• No visible movement when pulling on the prosthesis.
• Good rotational stability.
• Full movement possible without compromising distal vacuum.
Precaution: If feedback indicates any of the above conditions are not met,
the socket will need to be adjusted or remade accordingly.
Seal-In Socks
Users who experience residual limb volume fluctuations and resulting
compromised suspension, are advised to use Iceross Seal-In Socks. These
should be placed below the seal lip (Figures 1A & 8).
Precautions
• If volume fluctuation cannot be adequately compensated for by this
means, the socket will need to be remade to suitably reduced
dimensions.
• The Iceross Seal-In Socks should never be placed between the Iceross
Seal-In X Liner and the device (Figure 8).
DAILY CARE
NB: The residual limb should be inspected daily by the user, to verify that
skin/limb health is satisfactory, and continued use of the device is safe.
Cleaning
Rinse the silicone portion of the device with water daily, and dry with a lint-
free cloth. This will prevent the build-up of dirt and other residue, which
may affect the seal-in properties and hygiene of the device over time.
NB: Do NOT use soap or any other cleaning aids with the device.
Inspection
Precaution: The device should ALWAYS be checked for holes, other
damage, or wear. Users are advised to contact their practitioner
immediately if damage is evident, as it may compromise device
effectiveness.
WARRANTY
Össur offers a 6-month (from invoice date) limited warranty on the device.
