ENGINE START-UP
In order to start the engine, pro-
ceed as follows:
- Insert the key in the start switch and turn
into position 1 (see diagram).
- Turn the key further into position 2, and
when engine has started, release.
- To keep the machine stopped with the light
on, turn the key into position P and switch
on the light switch (Fig. 10).
BATTERY
For maximum performance of the battery,
carry out the following operations:
- Check the electrolyte level often; this must
be done with engine switched off, machine
on a flat surface and battery at rest.
- If necessary, top up with distilled water;
the fluid must cover the vertical plates in
each battery compartment.
- If the battery needs refilling too often, ap-
ply to a specialised workhouse.
- Check that the battery terminal cables be
well connected to the battery poles; always
fig. 10
N.B.: When engine is running, leave the igni-
tion key in position 1 in order to allow the
battery recharge. When engine is switched
off, turn the key in rest position 0 in order
not to discharge the battery.
use wrenches (and never pliers) to screw or
unscrew the terminal nuts.
- After having connected the terminals,
smear with Vaseline.
- Keep the battery dry and clean, especially
at the top.
- During brief stops leave engine running;
frequent start-ups need a considerable
amount of current delivery.
- Never discharge the battery completely. If
the machine is to remain unused for more
than two months, it is best remove the bat-
tery and store it in a dry place and recharge
regularly.
