NOTE
A new machine may require additional pulls.
6. Set the starter lever to the OPEN position (Fig. 12.B).
7. Pull the starter cable to start the engine.
8. Once the machine is started, let the machine warm up for a few seconds, without touching the
accelerator.
NOTE
The machine may need several seconds to warm up in cold weather or at high altitudes.
9. Lastly, press the accelerator (Fig. 1.17) to disable semi-acceleration.
ATTENTION
• With the engine at idle, the cutting device must not turn. Otherwise, contact an Authorized
Assistance Centre to carry out a check and resolve the issue.
• When the engine is already warm, do not use the starter for start-up.
• Only use the semi-accelerator device exclusively in the start-up phase when the engine is
cold.
NOTE
IT IS normal that a new engine emits smoke during and after the first use.
9.2 STOPPING THE ENGINE
1. Set the accelerator lever to idle (Fig. 1.17).
2. Wait a few seconds to allow the engine to cool down.
3. Press the ground switch to turn the engine off (Fig. 17.T).
9.3 FLOODED ENGINE
1. Remove the screw (Fig. 1.22).
2. Remove the casing of the spark plug housing (Fig. 1.11)
3. If it is difficult to remove the cap, apply a suitable tool to the spark plug.
4. Lift the spark plug cap.
5. Unscrew and dry the spark plug.
6. Filly open the throttle.
7. Pull the starter cable several times (Fig. 13) to empty the combustion chamber.
8. Re-fit the spark plug and attach the cap by pressing it firmly.
9. Move the starter lever to the OPEN position (Fig. 12.B), even if the engine is cold.
10. Start the engine (par. 9.1).
9.4 RUNNING IN
• The engine reaches its maximum power after 5 to 8 hours of work.
• During this running-in period, do not run the engine with no load at maximum speed to avoid
excessive stress.
ATTENTION
During the running-in period, do not vary the carburation to obtain a presumed increase in
power; this could damage the engine.
