WARNING
• Never use hard discs for cutting on stony terrain. Projected fragments or damaged discs can
cause serious or fatal injury to the operator or bystanders.
• Pay careful attention to thrown objects and always wear approved protective goggles.
• Do not place your body beyond the cutting guard. Stones, fragments, etc. could hit the eyes
and cause blindness or serious injury.
• Do not allow unauthorised persons to approach: children, animals, bystanders and helpers
must remain at a minimum safe distance of 15 m.
• If a person approaches, stop the machine immediately.
• Never turn the machine on without checking whether there are people in the working area.
10.3 WORKING WITH THE MACHINE
General operating instructions
• This section of the manual describes the basic safety rules relating to the use of the machine for
thinning and cutting grass.
• If you are unsure of how to proceed, consult an expert. Contact a dealer or local authorised
workshop.
• Do not carry out operations you are unsure of.
Basic safety regulations
DANGER
• Long-term inhalation of engine exhaust fumes can pose a health risk.
WARNING
• Do not use the machine if you would not be able to call for help in the event of an accident.
• Never operate the machine without a guard or with a faulty guard.
• Never use the machine without the drive shaft.
• Do not use discs intended for grass to cut down woody stems.
• Do not use the machine in adverse weather conditions, e.g. heavy fog, heavy rain, strong wind,
intense cold, etc. Working in these conditions is tiring and often involves additional risks, such as
ice formation on the ground, etc.
• Switch off the engine before you move to another area.
• Never lay the machine on the ground while the engine is running.
• Always use suitable devices.
• Make sure that the devices are adjusted correctly.
• Carefully plan the work to be carried out.
• Always use the engine at full speed when starting to cut with the disc.
• Always use sharp discs.
