4.2 Basic settings

4.2.1 Setting DMX channels

For separate control of all DMX units connected
to the light controller, each unit must have its
own start address . The 512 DMX channels of
the DMX-3216 are divided into equally sized
address sections for 16 units, each with up to
32 DMX channels . Consequently, the following
start addresses will have to be set at the individ-
ual units:

4.2.2 Assigning movement channels

To make sure that units with controllable move-
ments (e . g . moving head, scanner) allow these
movements to be controlled by the jog wheels
(19, 22) and to make sure that the movement
patterns (MOVEMENT) of the controller work cor-
rectly, assign the jog wheels to the appropriate
PAN and TILT channels of the respective unit . In
addition, the two movement directions can be
reversed, if necessary .
1) Use the POWER switch (33) to switch on the
controller .
2) Keep the button PROGRAM / REC (10) pressed
for 3 s . The LED next to the button will start to
flash to indicate that the programming mode
has been activated .
3) Press the buttons FINE (18) and MODE (20)
at the same time . The LED ASSIGN (9) will
light up and
display (11) .
4) Use the number buttons (17) to select the
number of the unit for which the assignment
is to be made . It is possible to select multiple
units at the same time if they are to be set
identically . When a unit has been selected, the
LED above the appropriate number button will

light up . To deselect a unit, press its number
button again .
The display will indicate the current assign-
ment for the unit selected, e . g .
for PAN = channel 2 and TILT = channel 4 . If
no assignment has been made of if the as-
signment has been deleted,
appear on the display .
5) Use the button  or  (13) to define if the
pan movement (PAN) or the tilt movement
(TILT) is to be assigned . The LED above the
appropriate jog wheel (19, 22) will light up to
indicate the current selection .

6) Keep the button MODE pressed and also press

signment; the number of the channel assigned

Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other movement
direction .
7) To delete the assignments, press the buttons
MODE and DEL (21) at the same time . All
LEDs will flash briefly to confirm the deletion;

8) To switch to the direction reversal option, press
the buttons FINE and MODE at the same time .
The LED REVERSE (9) will light up and the dis-
play will indicate the current channel reversal
of the unit selected, e . g .
channel 2 is reversed, the TILT channel is not
reversed .
9) Use the button  or  to define if the pan
movement (PAN) or the tilt movement (TILT) is
to be reversed . The LED above the appropriate
jog wheel will light up to indicate the current
selection .
10) Keep the button MODE pressed and also press
the button (1) above the control for the corre-
sponding channel .
All LEDs will flash briefly to confirm the as-
signment; the number of the channel reversed
will appear on the display .
