7.5 Routine Decontamination of the Dental Unit Water
Circuit
To decontaminate the water circuit of the
dental unit to which the air polisher device is
connected after long periods of non-use or
at first use, use troclosene sodium dihydrate
(≥ 1%) and sodium chlorite (≥4%) tablets to
treat the dental unit water circuits. Dilute the
tablet in tap water as per the manufacturer's
indications .

Dental Waterline Cleaner Tablets by Hue-Friedy.
1. Fill the dental unit water tank with a
volume of tap water sufficient to fill the
entire water circuit.
2. Dissolve a suitable number of
decontamination tablets in the water
tank of the dental unit (as per the
manufacturer's instructions

WARNING: Hospital waste.
Treat the following objects as hospital waste:
• Polisher nozzles, when worn or broken;
• Cleaning needles, when worn or broken;
• K9 wrench, when worn or broken;
• Single-use SUBGINGIVAL PERIO TIP,
after each use.
3. Start the water circuit of the dental
unit to which the air polisher device is
connected until it is completely filled.
The decontamination solution must
flow out from the air polisher device;
4. Leave the decontamination solution
to work inside the air polisher device
and the water circuit to which it is
connected;
5. Rinse the water circuit of the dental
unit to which the air polisher device is
connected with at least 500 ml of tap
water.
WARNING: Prepare the decontamination
solution, carefully following the
manufacturer's instructions.

Disposable materials and materials that carry
biological risk must be disposed of according
to local regulations in force regarding
hospital waste.
The device must be disposed of and treated as
waste subject to separate collection.
The purchaser is entitled to deliver the device
to be disposed of to the dealer who supplies
them with new equipment; at Mectron, in-
structions for proper disposal are available.
