DEF FLUID INFORMATIONS
To meet the standards of anti-pollution regulations, the Selective Catalytic Reduction after-
treatment system (SCR Catalyst) requires a liquid reagent named "DEF (Diesel Exhaust
GB
Fluid)" or "Urea" or "AdBlue" (registered trademark).
DEF is a simple, non-toxic and pre-mixed fluid composed of an urea solution in demineralised
water.
- It freezes at a temperature of approx. -11°C (12°F). Freezing and unfreezing do not affect
the characteristics and quality of the DEF fluid.
- It slowly decomposes even at ambient temperature. The speed of this reaction increases
as temperature increases, e.g. by solar radiation. During this process, ammonia vapours are
formed, which have a pungent odour and irritate the skin, mucous membranes and eyes in
particular. This can result in burning eyes, nose, throat, with coughing and tearing stimulus.
- They reacts with sodium and calcium hypochlorite to form explosive nitrogen trichloride.
- It may react violently with strong acids, bases and oxidants.
IMPORTANT
- Only a DEF fluid compliant with
international standards ISO 22241 - 1 -
2 - 3 - 4.
- Strictly observe and apply the
contents of the technical data sheet
and safety data sheet of the DEF fluid
used.
CAUTION - PRECAUTION
- Change immediately clothes splashed
and impregnated with DEF fluid.
- Seek medical advice immediately if
you fear to have or have an allergic
reaction.
- Avoid any form of contamination.
- The use of non-compliant DEF fluid is
forbidden.
DEF FLUID AVAILABILITY
Normally available at filling stations.
English
IMPORTANT
Only API (American Petroleum Institu-
te) or DIN-certified Diesel Emissions
Fluid DEF are allowed. This ensures
compliance with ISO 22241. Other
fluids, which may contaminate the DEF
system, are not allowed.
DANGER - WARNING
- Do not inhale the released
ammoniacal vapours.
- Avoid contact or ingestion.
- Wear personal protective equipment
(gloves - protective clothes).
- Wash the area splashed by DEF fluid
with plenty of water.
- If the DEF fluid comes into contact
with the mouth, rinse immediately with
plenty of water and drink abundant
drinking water.
- Keep the DEF fluid out of the reach of
children.
