SmartConnect
Operating manual
Ensure that measurements are only taken with suitable measuring
|
equipment which conform to applicable standards and directives.
Before carrying out the measurement, read the operating manual for
the measuring equipment;
Ensure that the device is connected (earthed) to reference earth using
|
the earthing connection;
If external distributors are used, ensure that these are capable of
|
switching off the total current of all connected SmartConnect devices;
Ensure that the device (AC side) is only operated in TN grids (Terre-
|
Neutre);
Ensure that no work is performed on the device in adverse weather
|
conditions, e.g. snow, rain or storms.

Basic safety instructions

Risk of fatal injury due to high voltages
Death or serious injury could result when working on high-voltage and
high-current electrical systems and live parts.
Cover or shield any adjacent live components. N.B. On photovoltaic
|
systems, the power source is always active during the hours of
daylight.
Before starting any work on electrical systems:
|
Disconnect the system
|
Ensure that it is secured against being switched back on
|
Verify that the system is fully deenergised
|
Earth and short-circuit the system
|
Risk of fatal injury from arcing and short circuit currents
Very high DC voltages (no zero point) may exist in photovoltaic systems,
which could cause arcing in the event of faults or if components such as
fuses or plugs are not used in the specified manner.
The short circuit current of the solar generator is only slightly higher than
the maximum operating current and is always dependant on current
irradiation levels. This means that, where short circuits occur, there is no
definite guarantee that circuit breakers will be tripped.
Use components in the correct manner.
|
Risk of fatal injury due to earthed solar generator.
A fault in the DC cabling can cause a short circuit or arcing. If there is an
insulation fault in the solar generator, touching the solar generator can
cause death. The risk of fatal injury is increased in an earthed solar
generator. Service engineers must be advised of the earthing so that they
can operate accordingly in the event of malfunction.
Use a DC disconnect switch for earthing.
|
Clearly mark earthed solar generators.
