CAUTION
Pumps conforming to the Atex Directive 2014/34/EU must be installed on a horizontal surface.
Before operating the pump, it is recommended to follow the general precautions below:
- check that there is lubricant in the mechanical seal cup;
- check that the pump body is full of liquid;
- check that no solid parts are or can be in the treated fluid, which are large enough to cause damage. Check that there is no
oxidised steel and neither small ferromagnetic parts;
- check that there are no restrictions at the inlet and/or outlet of the pump so as to prevent phenomena of cavitation and motor
overload, respectively;
- check that the connection pipes are sufficiently resistant and that they cannot deform when connected to the pump;
- if the pump has been inactive for long periods of time, it is advisable to clean it, as described in the User and maintenance
instructions so as to avoid the risk of scaling;
- check that the direction of rotation is correct;
- check the earthing of the equipment and that the individual components have electrical continuity with the earth.
Caution
The integrator/installer must guarantee the flow of process liquid.
If, following the process risk analysis, the integrator/installer decides to install a sensor to guarantee this condition, it must be
integrated into a circuit whose minimum safety function efficiency is equal to PL=c, category=2, in accordance with UNI EN 13849-
1:2008; this sensor must be connected to the control panel and must stop the pump when the set threshold is reached. The
connection must be carried out by specialised personnel and in compliance with the regulations in force.
CAUTION The integrator/installer must ensure that the pump is always primed.
Just as an example, below is a non-exhaustive list of possible solutions that can be adopted to guarantee this condition: 1) install a
foot valve (for low viscosity liquids), 2) install the underhead pump, 3) limit the suction height for high surface tension liquids, 4)
implement a procedure for the pump to be filled with the first start-up.
6. PUMP CLEANING
CAUTION Dust deposits on the pump must be avoided as they can limit the cooling of the surfaces. Only clean the
pump with a damp cloth to avoid accumulation of electrostatic charges.
Periodically check that there are no kind of deposits inside the pump and particularly in the area of the stator parts.
