Unpacking
Remove the unit and all accessories from the shipping carton.
We suggest you retain the original carton and packing material in
case that you need it later for safe transport.
Connection to AC power line
This unit can be operated on 115 V AC or 230 V AC, 50 —60 Hz
power lines. Change of line voltage or frequency should only
be accomplished by authorized Dual dealers or qualified service
personnel to insure compliance with existing safety regulations.
Before connecting your unit to a wall outlet, please make sure
that the line voltage indicated on the name plate corresponds
to the actual line voltage.
Connection to the HiFi system or playback amplifier
Connect
the 5-pole
DIN connection
lead to the ТАРЕ
jack
on your amplifier or receiver. This connects your unit to all
connected program sources.
Playback of pre-recorded cassettes
Switching on and off
In order to switch the unit on, depress the power switch

The illuminated VU meters will light, indicating that the unit
is ready for operation. Retract the protective cover 10 towards
you, exposing the cassette holder.
Tape-type selection
Your cassette deck is equipped with a combined automatic/
manual tape-type selector. Cassettes with clear markings in ac-
cordance
with
Fig. 2 automatically have the correct setting
when button
auto/manual 16 is depressed. For FeCr or metal
cassettes, which do not have these clear markings, set the but-
ton
auto/manual
to manual position (= not depressed) and
select the corresponding
tape-type
by means of the button
metal/fecr 17 .
First of all determine the tape-type in accordance with the
table on page 3. Check whether FeCr and metal cassettes have
recesses on their housings. Then select one of the tape selector
buttons 16 or 17 in accordance with the following list.

The VU meters

are provided with two scales. The
upper scale must be used for FeCr and metal tapes and the lower
scale must be used for Fe and Cr tapes. The setting is indicated
by the appropriate LED.
Dolby B — C NR
In addition to having the world-renowned
Dolby B noise re-
duction system, your cassette deck is also equipped with the
new Dolby C NR system which improves the dynamic values
of your own recordings by approximately 18 dB.
Use buttons
18 or 19 to select the Dolby
NR system with
which you made your recording.
By activating the Dolby C NR button
18 , Dolby B NR 19 is
automatically switched off. Switching over to Dolby B NR is
carried out by once again pressing the Dolby C NR button
(pushbutton
released). The selected noise-reduction system is
indicated by one of the two indicators.
Musi-cassettes
with the DO
symbol should be used with the
Dolby B NR system.
