Power supplies.
The Bus Terminal Controller BX5200 usually
presents 3 different potential groups:
− Bus Terminal Controller logic and Bus Coupler.
− Added I/O Modules, powered via power
contacts ("Power contacts", in fig. 3.1).
− Field bus interface ("Fieldbus connection", in
fig. 3.1).
Every one of these blocks works with voltage
potential isolated from that one of the others two.

3.3.1
Bus Terminal Controller power
supply.
The Bus Terminal Controller requires a 24 V
supply for its operation.
This supply voltage feeds not only the BX5200
electronics
but
also
Terminals) via the K-Bus.
The BX5200 electronics and that of the K-Bus
power supplies are electrically isolated from the
potentials of the field level.
The connection is made by means of the upper
spring loaded terminals labelled 24 V and 0 V.
3.3.2
Power contacts power supply.
The bottom six connections with spring loaded
terminals can be used to feed the supply for the
peripherals. The spring loaded terminals are joined
in pairs to a power contact.
The feed for the power contacts has no connection
to the voltage supply for the BX5200 electronic.
The design of the feed permits voltages of up
to 24 V.
The spring loaded terminals are designed for wires
with cross sections between 0.08 mm
2
mm
.
The assignment in pairs and the electrical
connection between feed terminal contacts allows
the connection wires to be looped through to
various terminal points.
The current load from the power contact must not
exceed 10 A for long periods.
The current carrying capacity between two spring
loaded terminals is identical to that of the
connecting wires.
On the right hand face of the Bus Terminal
Controller there are three spring contacts for the
power contact connections.
The spring contacts are hidden in slots so that they
cannot be accidentally touched.
