DeviceNet Port.
The
DeviceNet
cable
equipped with a 120
terminating resistors, on both
ends, on the main line,
between CAN high and CAN
low signals.
The
DeviceNet
cable
connected to the FC520x
DeviceNet card via 5 pin
open style connectors with
the following pin assignment.
X520

5
(external power supply)

CAN high (CAN+, white)

CAN low (CAN-, blue)
1
(external power supply)
NOTE: The DeviceNet bus power supply must be
delivered from external power supply.
The bus cable is a 2x2 core twisted-conductor,
screened cable.
One pair of cores is for data transmission, the other
pair is for the power supply.
The maximum permissible length of a line depends
primarily on the baud rate: with 500 kbps, the max.
possible line length is 50 m.
The 5 pole plug supplied with the equipment is for
connecting up the DeviceNet cable.
Connect up data leads to pin 2 and pin 4, the right
way round for correct polarity.
The power supply leads must be connected to pin 1
and pin 5.
Also a connection must be made from pin 5 to
terminal X0/24V, and one from pin 1 to terminal
X0/0V.
The system will only work properly if both
voltages are connected up.
It is important that both ends of the main line are
fitted with 120
terminating resistors.
The bus cable may consist of a main line with up
to 12 m long branch lines.
You can operate up to 64 users on one line.
If you want to be able to plug and unplug Bus
Controllers while the equipment is in operation the
terminating resistors should be permanently
connected to the bus cable.

Bus Terminal Controller configuration.
Before you start using the Bus Controller, you
must set the node number (MAC ID).
These settings are made with the 2 rotary switches
on the Bus Controller, shown in figure a side.

Diagnostic.
The Bus Terminal Controller has two led groups
and a display for the diagnostic:
− "Power Leds" for the BX5200 and "Power
contacts" supply voltage control;
− "Diag Leds" for the condition of the field bus
(DeviceNet), PLC (BX5200) and K-bus;
− "Display" for visualization of the operating
state and "Error Codes".
