The operator grabs the load using an
appropriate grabbing system and positions it
directly above the location where it will be set
down. The operator sets down the load using
the down button on the control unit.
IMPORTANT: When lowering the
load to set it down, check that the load is
stable and that there is no risk of any
element coming off the load.
8.3.3 Lowering the load
NOTE: Tractel
2 operators required for winch maneuvers.
The first operator is in charge of slinging
the load and operating the control unit.
The second operator is in charge of
setting down the lowered load.
Description of winch maneuvering phases
when lowering a load:
• Sling and lift-off the load.
• Position the load directly above the location
where it will be set down.
- If the winch is used on a jib crane
The operator grabs the carrying handle
(Fig.1, item 11) then pivots the jib crane to
place the load directly above the location
where the load will be set down. The
operator lowers the load by pressing and
holding the down button on the control unit.
- If the winch is used on a frame or
bearing on the base tube.
The operator grabs the load using an
appropriate grabbing system and positions it
directly above the location where it will be set
down, then lowers the load by pressing
and holding the down button on the control

DANGER:
• Check that no obstacle is located along the
load lowering path.
• Check that the area where the load is to be
set down is secured and clear of all
personnel.
• The operator must have uninterrupted eye
contact with the load throughout the lifting
height, in particular, he must:
- Keep the load from swinging or turning.
- Keep all obstacles at a distance from the
wire rope and load.
- Avoid any slack wire rope on the strand
loaded.
• Stop lowering the load.
The operator releases the down button on
the control unit. At this moment, the operator
must check that the load has actually
stopped.
• Position and set load in down position.
IMPORTANT: When lowering the
load to set it down, check that the load is
stable and that there is no risk of any
element coming off the load.
NOTE: The limit stop is not a
control component ; it is a safety component.
It should therefore not be intentionally used
as a control component, but only as a stop
component in the event of unintentional
overshoot of the planned travel distance.
9 Emergency procedure in case of
incident
A red emergency stop button (Fig. 1 item 16),
is used to stop movement in the event of
incorrect operation of the "Up" or "Down"
buttons or in the event of an incident.
(See section 4: Safety devices).
Immediately notify the appropriate authorities
in order to remove the load and intervene on
the winch.
