the maneuver and take no further action on

10 Unauthorized use of winch equipment
Safe use of the altotir™ winch will be
ensured by following the instructions given in
this manual. The following unauthorized
actions are strictly prohibited:
DO NOT:
1) Use the winch described in this
manual, even occasionally, to lift
persons.
2) Use the winch if it has not been
inspected for more than 1 year.
3) Suspend the winch to a structure which
is not sufficiently strong.
4) Lift or lower loads if you do not have
uninterrupted eye contact with the load.
5) Use the winch with any wire rope other
than a genuine Tractel® wire rope.
6) Use the winch for operations other than
those for which it is intended, or with
installation configurations other than
those described in this manual.
7) Use the winch beyond its working load
limit stop.
8) Rig the load to the winch frame and the
wire rope hook to a fixed point.
9) Rig the winch by its carrying handle.
10) Operate the winch without first
ensuring that the limit stop is correctly
in place.
11) Attempt to lift fixed or blocked loads.
12) Apply any lateral pulling action on the
loads.
13) Connect the winch to a power outlet
without
first
characteristics of the power outlet

that
the
electrical safety devices are in place
on the power circuit.
14) Use the winch with pulley blocks.
15) Pull a load along the ground.
16) Force a maneuver with a wire rope
blocked inside or against the winch.

18) Use the wire rope as a sling.
19) Allow the load to swing under the
winch.
20) Take position or move around under
the load.
21) Bring your hand or any other part of
your body near to the warping drum.
22) Bring your hand or any other part of
your body near the limit stop lever.
23) Use the winch without first making
sure that all the safety equipment
operates correctly.
24) Use the winch for any other purpose
than vertical load lifting.
25) Secure the winch to a host structure
by any other means that the mounting
clamp supplied (Fig. 1, item 8).
26) Use the winch in an explosive
environment (device not compliant
with a ATEX directive).
27) Use the winch at temperatures of less
than 10°C or greater than +50°C.
28) Use the winch when the wind speed
is greater than 50 km/h.
29) Use
the
conditions which are not sufficient to
have a clear view of the entire lifting
path.
30) Use the winch in an aggressive
environment, in particular in a marine
or in a chemically corrosive or saline
environment.
31) Repeatedly, successively press on
