under the winch.
12.3.3 Deinstallation of an altotir™
winch bearing on its base tube
• Using a webbing sling, swing the winch
by its carrying handle.
The sling must be installed so that the
altotir™ winch is as stable as possible
during and after dismantling.
• Remove the wedging from the winch.
• Remove the winch.
• During the removal operation, the
operators must ensure that no part of
the winch, such as the control unit,
power connector or wire rope, is stuck
under the winch.

13 Transport and Storage

Tractel
®
recommends storing the winch in its
original packaging. The winch must be
transported with the wire rope coiled on the
drum, and the control unit and power
connector placed inside the protective casing
of the unit. Before setting the winch on the
ground, check that the control unit and the
power connector are not located beneath the
unit. Damage to either of these electrical
components could represent a safety hazard
for the operator .
The altotir™ winch must be stored in a dry,
clean location at temperatures between –20
and +50°C.
14 Servicing,
maintenance,
checks

14.1 Periodic checks required

Servicing consists in regularly checking that
the winch is in good condition, cleaning it,
and having it inspected periodically (see list
of periodic inspection actions) by a Tractel
approved repaired agent. No greasing or
lubrication should be performed by the
operator.
Any visible damage to the winch or its
equipment, in particular its hook, wire rope,
limit stop lever, tube mounting clamps and
studs,
electrical
connector and control unit should be
repaired before re-use of the winch.
Only the following persons are authorized to
perform
the
checks
operations.
• The operator must perform the checks
before use on the winch in accordance
with the table given in pages 28 and 29.
• The installer must perform the checks
before and after installation of the winch
in accordance with the table given in
pages 28 and 29.
• The operator must perform the checks
before initial setting-into-service of the
winch in accordance with the table given
in pages 28 and 29.
• The Tractel
®
perform the annual and 10-yearly
inspection and checks on the winch in
accordance with the table in pages 28
and 29.
IMPORTANT: The electrical unit,
power connector and control unit must only
be opened by a Tractel
agent.
