Dear customer,
GB
thank you for choosing a product from Bauerfeind. MyoTrain® is a high-quality medical
product.
Please read through these instructions for use carefully. If you have any questions please
contact your doctor, medical retailer or our Technical Service department.
MyoTrain® is an active support for the treatment of muscle injuries of the thigh. MyoTrain®
replaces the conventional compression bandage fi tted by the doctor or therapist after
muscle injuries and represents an effective therapeutic aid, for example in supporting the
work of the physiotherapist. Immediately after the injury, compression pads
the support to restrict the extent of the injury and promote healing. The two compression
pads can be cooled and used fl exibly to match the progress of healing. At a later stage,
MyoTrain® can be fi tted and worn without the compression pads. MyoTrain® reduces the risk
of a further injury, which might then require protracted treatment.
MyoTrain® must be fi tted for the fi rst use by a trained specialist, otherwise we cannot
accept any liability for the product.
Indications
• Muscle hardening, pulled or torn muscles in the thigh
• Prevention, particularly of repeat injuries
• Support for the follow-up treatment of muscle injuries
• Muscle bruising on the thigh (thigh knock)
Side effects
Side effects, that affect the entire organism, have not been reported to date. Correct
fi tting is assumed. Any supports and orthoses
tightened excessively, lead to local pressure signs or, rarely, constrict the underlying blood
vessels or nerves.
Contra-indications
Hypersensitive reactions harmful to health have not been reported to date. In the
following conditions such aids should only be fi tted and worn after consultation with
your doctor:
1. Skin disorders/injuries in the relevant part of the body, particularly if infl ammation is
present. Likewise, any raised scars with swelling, redness and excessive heat build-up.
2. Varicose veins.
3. Impaired sensation and circulatory disorders of the legs, e.g. diabetes mellitus.
4. Impaired lymph drainage – including soft tissue swellings of uncertain origin located
away from the fi tted aid.
Initial fi tting (by a trained fi tter)
1. Fit MyoTrain® in the standing position with your leg relaxed and slightly flexed at the
knee.
2. Remove the strap system from the support.
3. Pull on the support, centering the rear velour strip (on the outside) over the in-jured
muscle area. The whole of the injured area must be covered by the support (Fig. 1).
4. Roll back the top edge of the support approx. 2/3 distally (down) (Fig. 2).
5. Place the large pad (functional pad) over the injured site on the thigh. The smaller pad
(acute pad) may optionally be inserted for increased pressure (Fig. 3).
6. Unroll the support edge back to its correct position.
7. Accurately fasten the Velcro tapes to the rear velour strip. The straps must pass from
the bottom at the back to the top at the front – short straps at the bottom, long straps
at the top – (Fig. 4)!
8. Attach the counter-traction system (eyelets) to the front velour strip (Fig. 5), ensuring
that the straps pass smoothly through the eyelets. Starting with the lower pair of
straps, tighten the inner and outer straps at the same time and fasten (Fig. 6). Adjust
the support and strap pressure with the knee flexed slightly so that the patient can feel
the compression pressure but no pain.

Once the basic fitting has been performed correctly as described above, the support
can subsequently be fitted and removed easily simply by opening and closing the
straps. Be careful to ensure that the basic positioning for the course of the straps is not
modified.

Use of the pad: In the acute phase after the trauma
The following sketches show you the various options for inserting the cushions depending
on the stage of treatment:
1. Immediately after the injury:
Locate the acute pad directly over the injured site. Position the functional pad on top
of the acute pad. Both pads can be pre-cooled. The acute pad can be removed after
approx. 24 hours (Fig. 3). After this time the increased compression produced by the
acute pad is no longer required.
2. Subsequently:
The functional pad can continue to be worn subsequently, particularly on the resumption
of training. If necessary, you can remove the side panels of the functional pad or fold
them in on both sides (Fig. 7).
3. MyoTrain® can be worn without pads.
