2.2 Intended purpose

The VORTEX is a holding chamber, and is used in conjunction with medication sprays
or "metered dose inhalers" in the treatment of diseases of the airways.

2.3 Intended use

The VORTEX is a holding chamber which makes it easier to inhale from a metered
dose inhaler.
Only medication that has been approved for inhalation treatment must be used. Take
note of any restrictions in the instructions for use of the medication in question.
In order to ensure proper treatment, please use only PARI accessories.

2.4 Contraindications

There are no contraindications known to PARI GmbH.

2.5 Product combinations

The VORTEX can be used with the following PARI masks:
– Baby mask "Ladybug" (for children younger than 2 years)
– Child mask "Frog" (for children aged 2 to 4 years)
– Adult mask soft (for children aged from 4 years up to adult who are unable to in-
hale using a mouthpiece)
The "Ladybug" baby mask and the "Frog" child mask cannot be cleaned chemically or
disinfected. They are not sterilisable and therefore cannot be used for multiple patients.

2.6 Description of function

The VORTEX with its metal chamber and cyclone twist principle guarantees that med-
ication is dispensed reliably in metered quantities.
When used together with an appropriate mask, the VORTEX is also suitable for use
by babies and children.
The VORTEX helps to:
– minimise coordination mistakes when using metered dose inhalers
– avoid deposition of large quantities of medication in the oropharyngeal area, and
the undesirable side effects associated therewith
With a flexible connecting ring it can be used with all standard metered dose inhalers.
