5.3.2 Cleaning the screen filter
DANGER
Unscrew the fuel tank cap (A - 3) and the remove the screen filter (C - 1).
Clean the screen filter with clean petrol and dry it; replace it if it is damaged.
Refit the screen filter and carefully screw the fuel tank cap back in.
Check that there are no leaks, and wipe away any traces of fuel with a clean cloth.

5.3.3 Cleaning the air filter

Never use petrol or flammable solvents for cleaning the air filter element (risk of fire or explosion when starting
the generating set).
IMPORTANT
Using a screwdriver, remove the screw (A - 21) and the inspection flap (A - 20).
Unlock the air filter cover fasteners (D - 1) then remove the air filter cover (D - 2) and the filter element (D - 3).
Wash the filter element with soapy water, rinse it carefully and allow it to dry completely.
Soak the filter element in clean engine oil and remove any excess oil.
If there is too much oil remaining in the foam, the engine will emit smoke when it is first started.
Refit the filter element and the air filter cover by engaging from underneath (pivot it) then lock the fasteners.
Close the inspection flap by tightening the mounting screw correctly.
5.3.4 Checking the correct condition of the spark plug
Open the access cover (E - 1) and remove the spark plug (E - 2) using a spark plug spanner.
Check the condition of the spark plug and washer:
If the electrodes are worn or if the insulation is split or flaking:
Fit a new spark plug and new washer in position and tighten
by hand to avoid damaging the threads.
Using a spark plug spanner, tighten to a torque of 12.5 N.m.
Close the spark plug access cover.
5.3.5 Cleaning the spark arrester
Using a screwdriver, remove the screws (F - 1) and the exhaust silencer cover (F - 2).
Unscrew the screw (F - 3) then remove the exhaust silencer grille (F - 4) and the spark arrester (F - 5).
Using a wire brush, remove the carbon deposits from the spark arrester and the exhaust silencer grille.
Check the condition of the spark arrester and the exhaust silencer grille.
These components must not be damaged. Replace them if necessary.
Refit the spark arrester in the exhaust silencer.
Refit the exhaust silencer grille by tightening the screw correctly.
Close the exhaust silencer cover by retightening the mounting screws correctly.
RISK OF FIRE OR EXPLOSION
Do not smoke, cause sparks or bring naked flames into the vicinity. Check there are no
leaks, wipe away all traces of fuel and ensure vapours have dispersed before starting the
generating set.
Otherwise:
Clean the spark plug with a metal brush.
With a feeler gauge, check that the electrode gap (X) is
between 0.6 and 0.7 mm.
Refit the spark plug in position and tighten it by hand to
avoid damaging the threads.
Using a spark plug spanner, tighten to a torque of 12.5 N.m.
Close the spark plug access cover.
