5.3.6 Cleaning the generating set

Never wash the generating set with a water jet or high pressure cleaner.
IMPORTANT
Remove all dust and debris from around the exhaust silencer (A - 19).
Clean the generating set, paying careful attention to the vent grilles, using a brush and a cloth.
Check the general condition of the generating set and, if necessary, replace any faulty parts.

6. Transporting and storing the generating set

6.1. Transport and handling conditions
Before transporting the generating set, check that the bolts are correctly tightened, close the fuel tap (if fitted) and disconnect the
battery (if fitted). The generating set should be transported in its normal operating position; never lay it on its side. A pump unit should
be handled gently and brusque movements should be avoided. Ensure that the place where it is to be stored or used is carefully
prepared beforehand.

6.2. Storage conditions

In the event that the generating set is not to be used for a long period, respect the following procedure for storing the generating set in
order to prevent any damage. The generating set should be stored in its normal operating position; never lay it on its side.
- Drain out all of the fuel and change the engine oil:
Using an appropriate container, unscrew the fuel tank cap (A - 3), remove the screen filter (A - 6) and use a manual siphon to
recover the fuel in the tank.
Refit the screen filter, carefully tighten the fuel tank cap, turn the fuel tap (A - 5) to the "OFF" position and start the generating set.
Allow it to operate until it runs out of fuel.
Using a screwdriver, remove the screw (A - 21) and the inspection flap (A - 20), then place a container at the outlet of the fuel drain
pipe (C - 3).
Loosen the fuel drain screw (C - 4) and allow the fuel to flow into the container.
Retighten the drain screw then refit the inspection flap by tightening the mounting screw correctly.
With the engine still warm, change the engine oil.
- Lubricate the cylinders and the valves:
Open the spark plug access cover (E - 1), remove the spark plug (E - 2) using a spark plug spanner and pour a teaspoon of engine
oil (maximum) into the spark plug opening before refitting the spark plug.
Close the spark plug access cover.
To distribute the oil in the engine, pull the starter-recoil reel handle (A - 11) several times.
- Store the generating set:
Clean the outside of the generating set and apply an anti-rust product to any damaged areas.
Never coat the generating set with oil, even to protect it from corrosion; preservative oils are flammable and can be dangerous if
inhaled.
Cover the generating set with a protective cover to protect it from dust and store it in a clean and dry place.
This procedure for storing the generating set or protecting it over the winter must be respected if the generating set is not used for a
prolonged period of 1 year maximum. For longer periods of storage, it is recommended to contact your nearest agent or to start up the
generating set for a few hours every year, and respect the storage procedure after doing so.
