3.4. Brake Release Pushbutton
When you uncouple the tractor unit, this automatically causes the trailer brakes
to be applied. If you have to manoeuvre the trailer when it's uncoupled, press the
black pushbutton.
Should the compressed air supply fail, the spring brakes go into handbrake
configuration under the force of their internal spring.
IF YOU NEED TO MOVE YOUR VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY*,

the brake can only be released by releasing the spring brakes (see
below).
* An emergency situation is when your vehicle is obstructing the public highway and
endangering other road users. However, if your vehicle is on a slope, do not under any
circumstances move your vehicle.
Releasing the spring brakes:

dangerous situations, in which case contact the nearest approved workshop.
1: Take the key out.
2: Remove the plastic cap.
3: Insert the key into the opening of the
spring chamber; give it a quarter turn
clockwise to lock it in the internal
housing of the spring brake.
4: Fit the key nut and tighten it until the
brakes are completely released.
NB: With some spring brake models the key is already in place in the spring
brake. To release it, simply undo the nut.
You must realise that when you've released all the spring brakes THE SEMI-
!
TRAILER IS WITHOUT BRAKES, so as soon as the vehicle is in a safe
place, contact an approved workshop to get help.
Using the brake release button
¶ Press the black buttons so that
you can manoeuvre the uncoupled
trailer.
¶ Pull on the button to return to the
original configuration.
With the manoeuvre completed, it is
essential to pull on the pushbutton to
re-apply the brakes.
