8. Fitting the Wheels
BEFORE FITTING
Faces in contact with the rims, disks and hubs must be free from any foreign
bodies, oil, roughness. Only a fine coat of the original paint is admissible.
Make sure that nothing is sticking out from the bearing faces (screws, shaft
collars), so as to ensure a clear surface between the different components to be
assembled.
FITTING
Lightly oil (never grease) the threads of the
studs or the pins and the bearing faces of the
nuts.
Using the spanner supplied with the vehicle,
tighten the nuts in the order shown in the
illustration opposite.
The spanner supplied is basically for troubleshooting and so cannot be used
!
to obtain an accurate tightening torque. After each repair, check that the tigh-
tening torque is the torque specified by the axle manufacturer.
AFTER FITTING
Check the tyre pressures while the tyres are cold (i.e. after a few hours' stop).
For tyre pressures and the tightening torque of the wheel nuts, refer to the
instructions located behind the left-hand side rail.
9. Props
9.1. Mandatory Tasks:
¶ Make sure there is no one under the semitrailer when it is being coupled or
uncoupled.
¶ The props must only be handled when the semitrailer is immobilised.
¶ When letting go of the crank handle, be careful it doesn't jump back at you.
¶ The props should always be placed on a flat surface.
