If column bounces when raising or lowering it indicates air in cylinder.
1. Bleeding column, Fig. 16:
a.) Fully raise lift, then lower to just below a lock position which allows access to the bleed screw.
b.) Loosen bleed screw slowly to release air from system. Have rag ready to prevent oily spray
c.) Close screw as soon as oil starts to come out.
d.) Repeat steps until there is no air in the system and fluid runs clear.
